這是一張概念化的專輯，由采樣了軍隊(duì)隊(duì)列表演時正步聲的序曲引出，在接下來的“啟示錄”（Apocalypse Please）中，用莊嚴(yán)的古典鋼琴聲明了他們的音樂并非像一些媒體所說的是受radiohead的影響，而是俄羅斯古典音樂作曲家拉赫瑪尼諾夫。“時光流逝”（Time is Running Out）先是用優(yōu)美浪漫的旋律透出了優(yōu)雅情懷，待到副歌部分，音樂被吉他推至波濤洶涌�！啊八沟赂鐮柲�綜合癥”（Stockholm Syndrome）綻放出了哥特金屬似的狂妄，猶如親眼見到了持續(xù)五分鐘的爆炸。爆炸之后當(dāng)然是一片寧息與反思，“與你一同消失”（Falling Away with You）就是在這種情緒下的演奏。



下半段，歇斯底里”（Hysteria）專輯中最有能量和音速的一首歌，燈火管制”（Blackout）是一首弦樂演奏的華爾茲舞曲，“颶風(fēng)與蝴蝶”（Butterflies and Hurricanes）先是利用歌劇般的嗓音與不間斷的貝斯演奏，完美的展現(xiàn)了七十年代激進(jìn)搖滾的風(fēng)范，而后突轉(zhuǎn)風(fēng)向，來了一段鋼琴演奏，又展現(xiàn)了主唱（Matt Bellamy）的古典音樂功底�！癟sp”玩起了重金屬似的顫音�！盁o窮無盡”（Endlessly）柔和了歐式的迪斯科與夢幻流行�！懊孛苷鲁獭保≧uled by Secrecy）在鋼琴的襯托下推動著如唱詩一般的歌聲，描繪了感覺到時光荏苒時的悲痛。
