不過才幾年前的光景，當(dāng)Catatonia還以《International Velvet》專輯稱霸全英排行榜，嗓音既嬌嗔又狂野的女主唱Cerys Matthews被譽(yù)為威爾斯搖滾第一夫人，連同鄉(xiāng)老將Tom Jones意圖重震聲威都不忘要她助陣時(shí)，誰能預(yù)見如今她不但移居鄉(xiāng)村樂圣城Nashville，更下嫁當(dāng)?shù)氐闹谱魅薙eth Riddle。



前年宣稱因?yàn)閭�(gè)人酗酒與焦慮等精神問題而將Catatonia解散的Cerys Matthews，只身來到了Nashville 展開人生的新階段。她表示自小就夢想嫁給農(nóng)夫，在心中她是個(gè)非常鄉(xiāng)村的女孩！所以不難想象她找上了Bucky Baxter這位從Bob Dylan、Steve Earle等前輩到新寵Ryan Adams一致指定的吉他手，擔(dān)任生平首張個(gè)人專輯的制作。原本計(jì)劃是張傳統(tǒng)歌謠的翻唱輯，卻在等待Bucky Baxter一邊搭建錄音室、一邊幫忙溜狗的時(shí)光里，Cerys Matthews寫下了《Only A Fool》 與《Caught In The Middle》等新的體驗(yàn)。隨后便在吉他手Richard Bennett (Travis Tritt, Emmylou Harris)、鼓手Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo / Wilco)與一群曾為Dolly Parton與Johnny Cash伴奏的資深樂手間，開心地以古法錄下了這張《Cockahoop》。



仿佛是入境隨俗地，歌曲間滿溢純樸的草根鄉(xiāng)謠風(fēng)情。前龐克名團(tuán)Strangler創(chuàng)團(tuán)大將Hugh Cornwell和Roger Cook合寫、但從未發(fā)表過的飲酒歌《Chardonnay》、翻唱芝加哥獨(dú)立鄉(xiāng)謠名團(tuán)The Handsome Family的《Weightless Again》到從祖母那聽來的頌歌《Arglwydd Dyma Fi》(但原曲出自19世紀(jì)的美國)，在Cerys Matthews這昔日Brit-Pop首席女伶口中突然變得像Victoria Williams那般奇特又美妙！BBC Wales贊賞《Cockahoop》是個(gè)“A Stunning Surprise”(意外的驚喜)。
