《灰色花園》早在1975年就已拍成影片，導(dǎo)演梅索兄弟(Albert Maysles & David Maysles)以七個(gè)月的時(shí)間貼身記錄了杰奎琳·肯尼迪(Jackie Kennedy)一對(duì)遠(yuǎn)親母女糾葛的關(guān)系，導(dǎo)演拍攝兩人喂貓、喂浣熊、吃飯、回憶往事和彼此埋怨。觀眾對(duì)她們的實(shí)際背景所知不多，卻可以透過影片內(nèi)容，極生動(dòng)地見識(shí)到這兩人的性格及互動(dòng)，所謂真實(shí)電影的長處與局限，在本片中皆表露無遺。



如今由德魯和杰西卡·蘭格(Jessica Lange)共同飾演母女，片中飾演母親的蘭格曾在1982年憑借《窈窕淑男》(Tootsie)贏得奧斯卡最佳女配角提名，1994便以《芳心的放縱》(Blue Sky)勇奪奧斯卡影后桂冠，。據(jù)德魯說，這是一部“有關(guān)愛的影片”，“這個(gè)故事很美，它能激發(fā)人對(duì)愛的向往和追求。
