In Time: The Best of REM 1988 - 2003

R.E.M.樂隊的音樂影響了美國從事另類搖滾音樂創(chuàng)作的一代人，在中國他們同樣擁有數(shù)量廣大的歌迷，但是這支樂隊出道20多年以來，卻很少出版過非常出色的精選集，近年來更是佳作稀少，而這張專輯確是R.E.M.樂隊少有的金曲精選集，而許多歌迷也認識到了這一點，在專輯僅僅發(fā)行一周之后以7萬6千張的成績名列Billboard 200排行榜的第八位，這張專輯的另一個限量發(fā)行版本也取得了突出的成績，同樣名列前茅。 　　這張專輯是收錄了R.E.M.樂隊自從1988年600萬美元的身價加盟華納兄弟(Warner Bros.)公司以來，所有七張專輯中精選出來的18首經(jīng)典單曲，但是這張專輯并沒有傳統(tǒng)的按照所旋轉(zhuǎn)集的時間順序而順序排列單曲，因而不能夠清晰的體會R.E.M.樂隊在十五年來的變遷，而且專輯中的單曲雖然首首都曾經(jīng)是輝煌一時的金曲，但卻并不一定是R.E.M.樂隊最出色的18首單曲，即便在華納公司的七張專輯中選擇也不是保證首首都是最出色的，比如R.E.M.樂隊在華納公司最輝煌的，同時也是整個R.E.M.歷史上最輝煌的專輯《Automatic for the People》中許多優(yōu)秀的單曲因為精選數(shù)量有限而未能在這張唱片中出現(xiàn)，取而代之的則是一些并不是非常好的專輯中較優(yōu)秀的單曲
